Connecticut Art
You can find great works by American Masters in our permanent art galleries. Trace the development of American art in portraits by John Trumbull and William Jennys, landscapes by John Kensett and George Inness and still lifes by Charles Ethan Porter and Emil Carlson. See how artistic styles shifted from realism to impressionism to surrealism, from abstract expressionism to assemblage in art by Peter Poskas, Guy Wiggins, Kay Sage, Alexander Calder, Cleve Gray and Abe Ajay among others. Uncover the story of American Art through the work of Connecticut affiliated artists.
The Waterbury Button Museum
Our permanent exhibit of 10,000 buttons was assembled by Warren F. Kaynor for the Waterbury Button Company more than 50 years ago. It includes buttons from all over the world with many 18th and 19 century examples - buttons worn by George Washington, buttons on display at the 1878 Paris Exposition, picture buttons, buttons made of Czechoslovakian glass, Japanese enamel, ivory, wood, china, pearls and jewels, and many, many more!
