Bantam Lake was another popular resort destination
after 1870, with tourist hotels, picnic spots, and summer houses built
by families from New York and Waterbury.
Alexander Wyant painted Bantam Lake late in his career, exhibiting a watercolor
of the lake in New York in 1882.
