All Jazz First Thursday

Mattatuck Museum will feature percussionist Duane Huff, vocalist Theresa Wright and Brad Rickert on Piano at the All Jazz First Thursday event on Thursday, February 2nd, 2012 from 5:30-7:30 pm.

These musicians have performed for local, national and international venues and are sure to bring toe-tapping jazz to the museum.

Duane Huff is a native of New Haven, CT and studied percussion at the Audubon School of Music. Duane moved to Delaware where he started Huff Brothers Entertainment in 1995. He has performed for the Clifford Brown Jazz Festival, Rehobeth Jazz Festival, JVC Jazz Festival, and many other local and national venues. Mr. Huff is known for his tasteful and sophisticated style of percussion, adding many colors to the spectrum of music.

Born a minister's Daughter in Utica, New York Theresa Wright grew up singing gospel music with her Mother as her vocal coach. Over the years Theresa has expanded her range of music and is one of the premier Jazz, R&B, and Gospel vocalists around. Theresa is known for her heartfelt, inspirational, and soulful style. In addition to Duane Huff Theresa is presently working with Jeff Pitchall and Texas Flood, and J Giles of the J Giles Band as a background vocalist. She has also released her debut CD titled "Time & Time Again”.

Brad Rickert began classical piano studies at age 10 at The Hartt School of Music. He also attended Westminster College and Berklee School of Music. He has performed on the road in the showroom circuit from Miami to Montreal. He performed locally at The Hartford Jazz Festival and at various venues in Connecticut.

Mattatuck Museum will feature singer Glenda Davenport, and Bassist John Mobilio with James Santucci on piano and drummer Jack Varanelli at the All Local Jazz First Thursday event on Thursday, March 1st, 2012 from 5:30-7:30 pm.

Ms. Davenport began her singing career in June, 1992. She was a winner at The World Famous Apollo Theater’s Amateur Night in April, 1993 and the opening act for comedian Bill Cosby in 1994 at the Performing Arts Center at Purchase College. In July 1995, she performed with tenor saxophonist Carmen Leggio’s Quartet at the Saratoga Jazz Festival, Saratoga, NY. She currently performs regularly throughout the tri-state area.

John Mobilio is a jazz bassist who performs regularly with a number of jazz combos and big bands in the Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts area. As a bassist, educator, musical director and performer John brings his joy of jazz and music to audiences and students throughout Connecticut and the surrounding states.
